We have to ask, “Why?” And the responses we get are varied. Most often we hear:
· “We thought that most historic inns were stuffy old houses.” – Our effort is to provide each guest with an impeccable environment—clean and friendly — including private bath, plush towels and linens and a gourmet breakfast you will not find off the interstate. Each guest room features individual heat and A/C controls, so that each guest can satisfy their personal comfort level and we provide Wi-Fi at no additional charge!
· “Aren’t most Bed and Breakfasts filled with fragile antiques?” – In keeping with the historic ambiance of the home, most are! We like to think of The Oaks as a true ‘hands on bed and breakfast’; chairs are meant to be sat in, books are intended to be read and the piano is there to be played. We feel that this is a big part of the B&B experience.
· “Most bed and breakfasts are in the middle of nowhere.” – In seeking out our perfect bed and breakfast, we insisted that it have 1) spacious and comfortable rooms and suites, 2) vast public areas, 3) expansive veranda and terraces and 4) be an easy walk to town. We live in this remarkable place and we are proud to share it with others.
The way we see it, we are doing our best to cultivate the bed and breakfast clientele of the future, for us and innkeepers everywhere. We’d be happy to hear from you and answer any questions you may have. All the best, Dale and Donna Potruski
